What Silverstack actually is
Pomfort Silverstack is more than an offload app. It's a full DIT-lab suite. On set, a DIT uses it to ingest and verify cards, but also to build dailies, apply and manage looks (CDL, LUTs, grading), run frame-accurate quality control on clips, maintain a searchable clip library with metadata, and generate production reports. Silverstack Lab adds even more for high-end colour-managed pipelines.
It's excellent software and an industry standard for a reason. It's also priced like a professional toolchain: roughly $18 per month or about $600 per year on subscription for the standard tier, and Silverstack Lab costs considerably more. If you're a full-time DIT delivering graded dailies, that's money well spent. If you're a shooter, solo operator or smaller production who mostly needs cards copied and verified safely, you're paying for a lab you rarely use.
What Copsy covers — and what it doesn't
Copsy deliberately does one job well: the verified offload. Plug in a card and Copsy auto-detects the source by content (Sony, ARRI, RED, Blackmagic/BMD, Canon, drones, audio recorders), copies it to an external drive and optionally Google Drive or Dropbox at the same time, organizes everything by date and source, and verifies every file with ASC-MHL checksums. That's the same standard Silverstack uses. When the card is done it sends a Telegram message so you can walk away.
Here's the gap. Copsy does not do dailies, CDL/look management, on-set grading, frame-by-frame QC, a clip library or production reporting. It's macOS-only (no Windows), and it doesn't do LTO/LTFS archiving or NLE panel integrations. If those are part of your daily deliverable, you want Silverstack. If you mainly need the card copied to a drive and the cloud, bit-for-bit verified, Copsy does that for free.
